Feature Product - LOCKING PLUNGERS New Innovative Product

Quick action locking with little effort - Push-Push locking mechanism.

The indexing pin of the GN514 locking plunger is moved by means of a spring-operated cardioid curve. By simply pressing the operating button, this cardioid mechanism causes the indexing pin to extend and retract (PUSH-PUSH locking mechanism). This function is similar to that used in a ballpoint pen.

Please note that the indexing pin cannot absorb axial forces and that it retracts virtually by spring action alone. The indexing pin must therefore remain free and easy to move. The indexing pin is made of nitrided and burnished steel. The matt black knob is made of plastic (polyamide PA).

Instead of the lock nut, the unit can also be fitted using the distance bushings GN609 (steel) or GN609.5 (high-grade steel), allowing the threaded length of the indexing plunger to match the thickness of the application in hand.

Indexing Plunger Tolerance

In the modification process of the bolts in our indexing plungers GN 717 and GN 417 from turned to pressed version, we need to inform you about further modifications.

The tolerance of the bolt Ø h9 has to be modified to Ø h11. The economic press operated manufacturing process does not allow a more precise tolerance of h9, as mentioned in our catalogue.

Version A (with lifting ring) is not affected from this modification, this type will still be manufactured by turning, i.e. here we can still keep the tolerance of h9. For more precise applications please remember this more precise technical feature, however on our future standards pages within the GN 717 and GN 417 series we will mention generally h11.

Surface Treatment

There will be two modifications to the surface treatment of our revolving handles DIN 98:

  • Spindles - Our present catalogue shows spindle version "E" = with thread, as zinc-plated and spindle version "D" = with plain shaft, as blackend. From now on, all spindles (versions D and E) will be zinc-plated. This also applies for all available versions ST, AL and KT.
  • Revolving handpiece for DIN 98-ST - Up to now, the surface of the handpiece has been turned and polished. In order to avoid rust, the surface of the revolving handpiece will be zinc-plated too, same as the spindle.
    • For the time being, there will be a transition period since we still have certain quantities on stock. Future production orders will use the zinc-plating surface.

      Colour Change

The colours of the plastic materials used for Ball lock pin GN 113.1 will be changed. The handle RAL 9005 (black) will change to RAL 7021 (dark grey). Push button RAL 2004 (orange) will change to RAL 3000 (red).

Please note; Any colour is available as a special, please provide the RAL number.

There will be a transition period since we still have certain quantities on stock. Future production orders, starting from middle-end of September will use the new colours.
