We all know the importance of preventing damage to the environment. This can be difficult to reconcile with commercial requirements but having recently achieved our BSI 14001 Environmental Certification we know that this can be done. At Berger Tools our postage and packaging was the area with the most significant opportunity for improving sustainability, read on to find out how!

Postage

We use Royal Mail as one of our delivery options. Royal Mail is the UK’s greenest delivery option for letters and parcels.

Their posties walk up to a billion steps a day. To eventually achieve their aim of net zero, they also operate the UK’s largest electric delivery fleet with around 7,000 electric vans.

They purchase 100% renewable electricity and have significantly reduced supply chain emissions and replaced domestic air transport in favour of lower emission alternatives.

Packaging

Our conundrum was how to reduce packaging waste while still ensuring your parts reach you in tip top condition.

The answer was to make packaging circular. Wherever possible, we aim to reuse as many packaging materials as we can, including dispatching the product in the same packaging that it was delivered in by the supplier. Where this is not feasible, we aim to source sustainable options and ask our suppliers to do the same so that sustainability also happens at source.
