BEA (IEM-DBS) Demountable Steel Guide Bush
In order to provide optimal flexibility when designing die sets, Berger Tools demountable bushes are available in four different lengths: extra long, long, short & low profile.
These bushes are ideally suited for use with either press fit or demountable pillars. Manufactured from top quality hardened steel, these bushes incorporate oil grooves and lubrication fittings.
Low profile demountable bushes are particularly advantageous for applications which require frequent sharpening of the die. This is due to the fact that the bushes do not need to be removed during grinding, vastly reducing the downtime of the die set. In addition, low profile demountable bushings have been specifically designed to permit only a minimum of the bushing to project below the punch holder and into the die area. This configuration allows the main body of the bushing to be contained within the punch holder and is ideal for dies running in presses with automatic transfer devices.
Demountable bushings are easy to fit - they sit flush with the ground face of the punch holder and are simply tapped into place. They are simple to remove and reassemble, which is a crucial factor in streamlining the building and maintenance of a die set, and facilitate a rapid change of use. They are held in position by the use of toe clamps and screws, which give four times the holding power when compared to pressed-in bushings. The toe clamps also create a perfect alignment of the bushing, holding the bore perpendicular to the ground surface of the punch holder.
