DX Multicyl Double Acting Cylinders
Like all standard Multicyl cylinders these DX cylinders are powered by air - but can deliver forces of up to 12 1/2 tons, so are ideal for heavier die sets or unitized tooling applications. Multicyl uses only the simplest of air controls, for double acting cylinders 4 way pilot valves are all that is required. These air over oil cylinders when combined with accessories into presses can be used for many different applications and are ideal for workshops. Examples of how a cylinder may be utilised are shown in our images.
Double acting cylinders provide a lifting force on the return stroke. The double acting types therefore are able to overcome shear force with fewer or no springs and are generally faster. It is possible to return tooling with a double acting Multicyl, please contact us for more information.
All Multicyls can be operated from a horizontal position, although be sure that the oil filler screw is facing upwards; this will properly align the bleed holes of the cylinder allowing the oil transfer system to work correctly and the cylinder to function as it should. Standard Multicyls will not operate in an inverted (upside down) position, however, custom modifications may be made to overcome this problem and provide an inverted cylinder. This must be requested at the time of ordering, please contact us for more information.
DX cylinders are available for sale as individual units for use with your own design, presses or tooling, or you can contact us to enquire about using an DX (or any Multicyl cylinder) as part of a complete punching solution including tooling, controls, and a frame designed to suit your application. The most common is hole punching, but this type of press is excellent for many other types of manufacturing applications such as notching, shearing, tube piercing, assembly and metal joining.
