Berger Tools Limited stocks a wide range of industrial magnets, in a variety of strengths and shapes such as disc, rectangular and rod, and designed for lifting, sorting and retaining purposes. Materials include hard ferrite, neodymium, nickel and samarium. Our magnets are divided into sections to make it easier to make the right choice for your needs. Within each section, there is more information about each type.
Retaining magnets are a good option for fixing items in place without causing any damage, and some have rubber jackets to further protect the contact surface. Fixing methods vary, but for those magnets which will be screwed in place, ie. with a tapped hole or through bore, it is important that the screws be made of non magnetic material in order to avoid affecting the magnetic forces.
A pot magnet consists of a steel shell containing a powerful magnet. This steel pot directs the magnetic field lines downward to the contact surface which causes the magnetic force to be concentrated at the contact surface and therefore increases the strength of the magnet. Button magnets attach over a further distance than the pot magnet and can be more suited to some higher temperatures. Both the button magnet and the U shape magnet have a split adhesive surface. The U shape magnet can be used for retaining purposes as well as sorting and lifting.
Raw magnets are unshielded magnets and can have a substantial adhesive force. They are suitable for almost universal use and are usually glued in place.
Magnets with hooks and threaded studs are useful to hold cables or signs, and there is a specific cable and line assembly magnet. Attachment is through the use of threaded bores as described, or by gluing into place. We also stock magnet accessories such as hygienic design types and setting bolts and grub screws which incorporate a retaining magnet. These are ideal for uses such as a workpiece stop, with the magnet holding the workpiece in place. The locking nut can be used to secure the stop screw after positioning.
All magnets supplied by Berger Tools are of excellent quality, and are stocked in the UK.
